Microsoft Windows and macOS have native compression utilities that allow you to create and extract zip files by completing the following steps:

Windows 7 & Earlier

Compressing

1. Right-click on the file or folder
2. Hover over the Send To > menu item
3. Select Compressed (zipped) Folder

Extracting

1. Right-click on the .zip file
2. Select Extract All…
